Lesson 23 The ‘Aqeedah (Creed) of al-Raaziyyaan – Uways at-Taweel

Explanation of Points #34-#36 of the ‘Aqeedah of al-Raziyyaan:

وَمَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّ القُرْآنَ مَخْلُوقٌ فَهُوَ كَافِرٌ باللهِ العَظِيمِ كُفْرًا يَنْقُلُ عَنِ المِلَّةِ
وَمَنْ شَكَّ فِي كُفْرِهِ مِمَّنْ يَفْهَمُ فَهُوَ كَافِرٌ

[34. Whoever holds that the the Qur’ān is created is a disbeliever, with a disbelief that removes him from the fold of Islām. And whoever doubts the disbelief of such a person – from those who understand this issue – then he too is a disbeliever.]

ٌّوَمَنْ شَكَّ فِي كَلَامِ اللهِ – عزوجل – فَوَقَفَ شَاكًّا فيه يقُولُ: لا أَدْرِي مَخْلُوقٌ أَو غَيْرِ مَخْلُوقٍ فَهُوَ جَهْمِ
وَمَنْ وَقَفَ في القُرْآنِ جَاهلًا عُلِّمَ وَبُدِّعَ وَلَمْ يُكَفِّر

[35. Whoever doubts as in the Speech of Allāh and withholds regarding it due to doubt, saying: “I do not know whether it is created or not created”, such a person is a Jahmiyy. And whoever withholds in (the affair of) the Qur’ān, due to ignorance, then he is taught and educated and  deemed an innovator but he is not deemed to be a disbeliever.]

وَمَنْ قَالَ لَفْظِي بالقُرآنِ مَخْلُوقٌ فَهُوَ جَهْمِيٌّ أو القُرآنُ بِلَفْظِي مَخْلُوقٌ فَهُوَ جَهْمِيٌّ

[36. Whoever says: “My utterance of the Qur’ān is created” or says: “the Qur’ān, with my utterance, is created”, then he is a Jahmiyy.]

Some points covered:

1. Verses from the Qur’ān establishing that the Qur’ān is the Speech of Allāh, not created
2. A clarification of the disbelief of the one who claims the Qur’ān is created
3. The ruling on The Waqifiyyah, those who withhold and say: “I do not know whether the Qur’ān is created or not”
4. The ruling on The Lafdhiyyah, those who claims that his utterance/recitation of the Qur’ān is created.
