Virtues of Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah
Abu Qatādah al-Ansāri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allāh (may peace be upon him) was asked regarding fasting the day of Aashoorā’ (10th of Muharram), and he responded:
“It expiates the sins of a year.”
He was also asked regarding fasting the Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah) and he responded:
“It expiates the sins of two years; the previous year and the following year.”

‘Aisha (رضي الله عنها) said:
“There is no day in the year that is more beloved to me to fast than the day of Arafah.”

عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ:ـ
سُئِلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَن صِيامِ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاء؟ فَقَالَ : يُكَفِّرُ السَّنَةَ
وَسُئِلَ عَنْ صِيامِ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ ؟ فَقَالَ : ” يُكَفِّرُ سَنَتَين، سَنَة مَاضِيَة وَسَنَة مستقبلة
