Being Shy from Allah – Al-‘Allaamah Rabee bin Haadee Al-Madkhali

الحياء من الله

قال العلامة ربيع بن هادي المدخلي حفظه الله:

فعلينا أن نستحيي من الله في الدنيا والأخرة، والله لا يرتكب المعاصي والجرائم والظلم إلا من قلَّ حياؤه أو عُدم، فالحياء أمر عظيم، ومن فوائده الجليلة: أنك ربما تهم بالمعصية فتذهب وتمشي إليها، ثم تتذكر وتقول: إن ربي يراني ويسمعني، فتخجل وتخاف في نفس الوقت، فيدفعك ذلك الحياء والخوف إلى الإحجام عن فعلها، فالحياء رادع عظيم ووازع عظيم، الحياء والخوف مع الإيمان الصادق.
فعلينا أن نقوي إيماننا وأن نغذي الحياء بدراسة سير الأنبياء عليهم الصلاة والسلام.

Being shy from Allaah.

Al Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al Madkhali- Allah preserve him- said:

“It is obligated on us to be shy of Allaah in this life and the hereafter [by doing what He has commanded and keeping away from what He has forbidden in this life and being shy of meeting Him in the Hereafter in a state of disobedience]. By Allaah! No one commit sins, perpetrate crimes and oppression except one who has little or no shyness. Shyness is a great affair; and from its great benefits is that you might intend to commit a sin, then you approach and walk towards it, [but] then you remember and say: “Indeed, my Lord sees me and hears me”; so, you become embarrassed and fearful at the same time. Therefore, that shyness and fear urges you towards refraining from committing [the sin]. Shyness is a great restraint- shyness and fear [of Allaah] together with true faith. Therefore, it is obligated on us to strengthen our Eemaan [Faith in Allaah] and nurture shyness [in our hearts] by studying the biography of the Prophets [Peace and Blessings Be Upon Them].
